Our school is one of four schools in our district including one primary, one elementary, one middle school, and one high school. We serve students with a 78% poverty rate who quality for free or reduced-price lunch. With that being said, these students lack experiences to build their base knowledge.
I hope to conquer this challenge by offering them rich educational settings, meaningful learning experiences using technology, hands-on artifacts, and real-life applications.
For the 2020-2021 school year, I moved from 3rd grade to 5th grade. I teach 47 fifth-graders who come from our rural community. Our school has recently become 1:1 with Chromebooks for each student. The students at our school are eager to learn, love technology, and always work to do their best, no matter the circumstances.
My Project
I would like to purchase a $100 Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to be able to purchase educational resources to be used in the classroom for Math, Science, and Social Studies. My team of teachers currently use Teachers Pay Teachers to find "extra" activities to enhance learning. Most of these resources are paid for out of our personal pockets, as we are not able to submit them for reimbursement.
My students have developed a love for digital escape rooms.
I can purchase these files/resources from Teachers pay Teachers to match whatever content we are working on at the time. This serves as an enhancement of their basic skills and offers them a challenging and engaging platform to practice their knowledge.
