The Gift of Great Literature During Distance Learning
Help me give my students the gift of great literature during distance learning with the books Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library, The BFG, and The WIld Robot.
The students in our rural school belong to the smallest elementary school in our school community. These students have a passion for learning and a desire to be enriched with literature.
The hope is to provide them with the most opportunities; to make an impact in their remote learning by continuing to provide them with literature at their fingertips.
My students and I did not realize we were spending their last day of elementary school together on March 13, 2020. Each of these 17 fourth grade students deserve something to look forward to; something to promote literacy and their imagination.
These children are deserving of building their own home library during a time they are not able to visit their school or local libraries. My goal is to provide them with the tools of success as we continue to learn from home. These books will help us stay connected by working together on novel studies.
The Kingsford Heights Community is home to a branch of LaPorte Public Library. The children are unable to experience and enjoy reading at the same capacity due to the recent closure of both their school and library.
My Project
These books will provide a window of opportunity to students who need and want to continue reading and growing academically during distance learning. Unfortunately, these students have limited access to books they would normally have access to at their school and local libraries due to the recent closure.
The gift of these books will help foster their academic success by keeping us connected through a novel study.
These fourth graders are eager to continue reading and would be delighted to own these books. Thank you for considering any donations toward this project.
