Help me give my students the access to materials and sources that they need to grow as learners by bringing the digital age to the study of history.

My students are a very energetic and driven community of young learners. They understand the importance of education and push themselves everyday in order to be the best possible versions of themselves. We try to bring history to life and tackle modern world problems through the understanding of the past. Their questions are always insightful and generate amazing classroom discussion. The creativity is astounding and their projects always open my eyes.
These strong students have battled adversity with their eye on the prize, knowledge is their train to the light at the end of the tunnel.
They have been wrongfully stigmatized by the location of their school. The south side of Chicago is often associated with an unjust reputation that these kids face everyday. Many come from broken homes that face monetary struggles and a lack of parent involvement. They must grow up fast. They should not be deprived of educational experiences and materials because of where they live.
This scanner will allow my students to have access to more resources to enhance their educational studies. History is the study of past events through many sources. Access to these sources is imperative for me to get my students where they need to be. We can talk about history all day and not grow as learners. It takes resources to facilitate our learning. My students should not be denied the equal opportunity to grow because they do not have the resources.
As our classroom transitions into the digital age many historical sources get left behind.
Many books and documents are simply too fragile or rare to provide each student a copy for personal use. This scanner will allow these documents to live in the digital world. Accessible to all, wherever they may be. Our class uses a digital space for materials, assignments, and collaboration. I must get access to these sources for my students when they are outside of the classroom. Much of our learning incorporates the use of laptops and cell phones. Digital access to these documents drives student inquiry inside and outside the classroom.
