Help me give my students a calming area where they can go to reflect on their emotions by coloring, playing with calming toys, watching the bubble timer or just cuddling up to a stuffed animal.
I teach at a Title I school in Northeast North Carolina. Our school is truly a family with hard working students that come from all backgrounds and cultures. Although we are a diverse school, we make it a priority to find ways to connect and form close relationships with each other and especially with our students.
Many of my students this year have emotional needs that could be greatly improved upon with the use of a "calm down corner".
In this project I am asking for resources such as a bubble timer, a soft chair, a portable cd player and other calming resources. I already have the perfect quiet spot picked out in my room and now I just need the materials to go in it!
My Project
Many of my student have emotions in which they are not sure how to control and after doing careful research I read about many teachers having a calm down corner. I loved the idea of giving the students a space to relax and reflect upon what they are feeling and why.
Please help me obtain these valuable resources to assist my students in controlling their emotions in the classroom to help them focus better!
After reading several articles from various teachers the materials I chose such as the coloring books, a stuffed animal, and calming toys all came highly recommended.
