My students are ones who may be the first of their family to go to college, they are ones who are individually motivated to better their education, and they are ones who want to go to college.
My students are ones who are curious about the world and the way it works.
They want to take learning in their own hands each day by searching for answers. Their families are supportive and want them to go to college. AVID is the program that helps encourage their curious minds.
My Project
The AVID students are chasing after college pennants. They will interview teachers at our school, research their colleges, and then create pennants to hang in the hallways of our school. Students need felt, scissors and glue to assemble the pennants.
Once the research is done, our classroom will turn into an assembly room for college pennants.
Students will replicate the college pennants while learning about the different colleges.
Pennants will be displayed for over 800 students to see in the hopes that chasing these pennants will encourage many students to want to attend college. AVID students won't stop until all pennants are caught!
