My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have access to technology at home while others are left behind. As a result I try to diversify my teaching in a way that helps each of the students. They are enthusiastic, they need love, and sometimes the most stable environment they have is that of school. We have many students with in the school that are free and reduced lunches.
Many of my students are hard to motivate but the majority are excited to learn new things and enjoy manipulating with their hands ideas that relate to the text.
They enjoy teaching that is not traditional lecture style and collaboration is something that they crave.
My Project
Students are excited to work in groups and do work that is more fun than sitting in rows. I love to group my students based on various research and have them do activities that not only relate to the workforce literature, but also to their own lives. They need to learn to work with others to share cultural differences and conversations must be separate from those of the other groups.
The problem that is the most frustrating in my classroom is that the information presented to students on a daily basis is on a smart board at the front of the room.
This limits seating arrangements and requires students to have to move in order to see the directions on the board. especially when addressing whole class questions these visuals will be especially beneficial. Technology is not the answer to everything in the classroom but I believe that the televisions and the accessories that are needed to make them useful would not only help my students to hear and see information but also to immerse themselves in their learning and showcase their technology creations more easily to the class.
The two televisions and the wall mounts would make it where students on the sides and the back of the room, whether in groups or in rows would be able to see the material that is coming from my computer.
The cords and the splitter would make this an easy project to be done by me to ensure that students are able to see powerpoints, videos, and examples of specific text that I am asking them to focus on specifically in daily lessons.
I asked for thirty two inch televisions and mounts so that less space would be used in the classroom, while allowing students to be able to see.
