My students need a few more basics for our PE curriculum. These items will pair with the other equipment to stretch the variety of uses for our equipment.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Great Expectations Model School and an A Plus school. Our students strive to model all the expectations to make our school excellent. Our students come to school with a desire to learn and to be the best they can be. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and we have a diverse population in an inner-city, low-income public school in Oklahoma City. Our school has approximately 320 students in grades PreK-5th. All of our children receive free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
Our school just opened a brand new, full-size gym and tornado shelter provided through "MAPS for Kids" which has given our students a nice facility to participate in health, sports, wellness activities and our school's physical education program. I'm also the school's new PE teacher, starting this past October. It's been great getting back into the classroom and I'm enjoying getting to know the students, teachers, staff and parents!
However, our school doesn't have all the PE equipment needed for me to properly teach the vast majority of the physical education goals and objectives.
Before my first project, our PE equipment consisted of just twelve well-loved, taped hula hoops and some used tennis balls. We had been playing A LOT of tag and my students were craving more variety. Because of the generous supporters of my past Donor's Choose projects, I have already put all of the new equipment to use. To be able to teach age-appropriate skills with age-appropriate equipment has been a blessing.
My first four projects, Phases 1 through 4, gave us the basics needed to help me teach the majority of our PE curriculum. This final phase, Phase 5, includes the "go-to" basics like bean bags, poly spots, cone toppers and frisbees that will be used weekly, if not daily.
