Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"It takes a big heart to shape young minds." I remember seeing this quote for the first time and understanding exactly what it meant. I knew that teaching was where my heart was and all I wanted was to give the students the best possible chance to be successful.
Many of my student's are having their first school experience when they come into my classroom!
I teach a Pre-K self-contained 3 and 4 year old classroom and all of my students have their own unique personalities; that you will fall in love with. My classroom is full of varying disabilities that require individualized goals and instruction.
My Project
When my student's come in my classroom I want them to feel at ease! My student's have varying disabilities and many of them have difficulty with regulating their emotions. These children are easily upset and can have anxiety throughout the day. Having a classroom environment that is calm and welcoming will allow them to feel relaxed and open them up to further their learning.
As an adult, when you are feeling stressed it can be hard to focus; the same goes for our students!
I want my student's to walk into the classroom ready to engage and learn and the first step to doing this is providing a learning environment they feel comfortable in. The light cover will give off a blue tint to the classroom so the lights are not crazy bright. The window curtains provide the same calming blue color. The weighted blanket and sensory brush will help the student's release any tension or sensory overload that they are holding in.
