My students are a group of 18 students from rural Alabama. They come from a wide variety of economic backgrounds. Our school has a rich history of academics, sports, and overall success.
Our PreK program began 5 years ago and has thrived since the beginning.
We have a full class every year with many students waiting to get into our class. Our classroom provides a developmentally appropriate environment in which our children thrive and grow through out the year. Many of our students begin their academic career in PreK at SW High School and graduate as seniors from SW High School.
My Project
The kitchen we have chosen for this project will give our students the opportunity to their learning outdoors. Our playground is set up very similar to our classroom with centers and activities for students. Some of our equipment is worn out and needs replacing. Children learn best through play and that is how this kitchen will help.
We have also chosen art materials much needed in our classroom.
These materials will be used in centers, free choice art time, and other activities. Our students are not allowed to be given a supply list so many of these objects are usually purchased out of the teachers own pocket.
