Mrs. Stucker from Lawrence MA is requesting lab equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

The Essentials of a Mad Scientist

My students need chemicals for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Our school is going through a transition period, and our budget is very tight. Our chemical supply is old and depleted so we want to restock.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from Lawrence. They come from a variety of backgrounds and have a wide range of experiences that have made them the individuals they are today. They work, lead homes, have hopes and dreams. They are poets, musicians, artists, and scientists.

My hope this year is to show them that science is for everyone; they can be an investigator, a chemist, a disease specialist, anything that they want to be.

My students are incredibly hard working and deserve a classroom experience that will help them achieve their goals, whether they be going to work starting their own business, going to school and getting a degree, or something else entirely.

My Project

Our school is going through a transition period during the 2018-2019 school year. We will be opening as a new charter school and will be dealing with the tightened budget of a new school. The chemicals we have in our school are old and outdated; as a result they do work well for experiments.

Our school strives to create lessons and lab activities that are student centered and student led; in order to achieve this goal, my labs not only assess the NGS standards but also test students on various skills they will need to be successful in the 21st century.

To learn science students must experience it. This means hands on lab experiments, trips outside of the school and more. I try to incorporate a lab a week in my classroom so that students are learning through doing. These chemicals will make this possible..

My students are incredibly bright and ambitious; they deserve an education that not only prepares them for college, but for life outside of the classroom as well. I aim to provide them with a classroom that allows them to think critically and question why the natural world works the way it does.
