Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second-grade students are truly one of a kind in many different ways! Together in second grade, we grow so much before the pressure of standardized testing.
Together, we are a classroom full of different learning types and personalities!
Teaching in a low-income school provides many different challenges inside and outside of school. Our school provides loving teachers and staff, and a safe learning environment for all students. By understanding those differences and how to address them, we, as teachers, can help mitigate some of the negative effects of poverty.
My Project
I am thankful to receive a handful of supplies from school but with new guidelines in place for this year, we now can't have community supplies in the classroom.
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go.
These additional supplies will be used for students and with the new guidelines. With the pencil boxes, each student can have all the supplies they need to succeed. These pencil boxes can benefit both in the classroom and at home so that my students have what they need to complete work in both locations. The chart paper will be used to create anchor charts that reflect the discussions we have during our mini-lessons. The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. In my classroom, we use many math manipulatives and with the photo keepers, each student will have their own container where I can put the manipulatives. This way each student will have an assigned container and we won't have to share. I want my students to succeed this year, and these items and supplies will help.
