Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the teacher of 21 five- and six-year-old students. They are young, energetic and excited to learn each and every day.
Many of my students come from single family homes.
Most are English Language Learners. My students attend their neighborhood school. It is in a densely populated area. The area is a high poverty district. Most of my students have a number of siblings.
My Project
A clean uniform just starts the day off right. These life essential items would allow for my little ones to have more than one shirt, pair of pants or sweater. This would allow them to feel fresh and clean and ready to start each day in a positive way.
Can you imagine waking up having to put on the same shirt you wore the day before?
Possibly the same sweater you spilled your juice on? For many of my students, this is what happens every morning. They only have 1 to chose from, so it has to be the dirty one. You can help change that for them. You can give them that crisp start to their day of learning.
