Help me give my students the resources and materials necessary to be successful in learning to play the violin such as: tuners, different levels of music books, and strings.
For 18 out of my 19 years of teaching, I have taught on two Native American Reservations. I currently teach all music classes (Band/Choir/Percussion/Guitar/Music Appreciation) for grades 9-12. With so many obstacles and horrible situations, the school is many times the only stable thing in these students' lives.
It is truly amazing to break through their hard shells to find the passion and creativity that every single one of my students have.
I have been in my current situation for 9 years, and every year my students continue to excel and impress me with their dedication and interest in pursuing music. I have many students who take multiple classes of mine, and most of them want to learn more than just their main instrument.
The students are taking control of the program, playing at most of the football, volleyball, and basketball games and tournaments in addition to their musical Concerts, District Honors festival, the District and State festival.
My Project
These materials are books and tuners for the students to use on their violin journey. The book will be used in class at school but there is also the option to access the book on our students' Chromebooks so they can learn/practice at home as well.
This project will allow students to use their own music books and tuners instead of having to share with others.
Students like to have things that are "theirs" and not have to share with someone. And it's much easier to practice at home if they have their own book to be responsible for.
The teacher manual will also be helpful so I can present proper string instruction.
