The students at our school represent a diverse group. They come from a variety of countries and backgrounds and speak many different languages. Most of our children have experienced adversity in their lives that they continually strive to overcome. Ninety-eight percent live below the poverty level, and more than 50% of our students speak English as a second language. Yet despite these disadvantages, our students are enthusiastic and hardworking, always willing to persevere and give their best.
My 45 fourth, fifth and sixth grade special needs students are motivated by constant reminders that education is their key to success.
They have the abilities and potentials to be successful in their future educational careers and in life.
I am a special education teacher who works with students who range in disability. My students require extra support to access the curriculum and everyday life.
An ELMO document camera is a device that is needed within the classroom. It is a document camera that allows the teacher to share out examples and explain what the students will be working on. Since I have been teaching I have been writing on a white board or holding student work up in the air to display content for the students.
Special needs students require a lot of modeling and visual learning assignments.
Using a document camera will help my students stay engaged throughout the lesson, follow along with the teacher model, and be able to show others/ the teacher how they came up with a certain answer in any subject.
