Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help to develop the love of science to a group of inquisitive third graders. It would be exciting and engaging to have my students see a demonstration of how daylight and phases of the moon changes.
In a high need, low income school which was restructured a few years ago and is doing exceptionally well, I teach 3rd grade.
We became the first elementary school in our part of the state to exit Program Improvement. We were a 2010 State Distinguished School. This is due to the use of proven teaching techniques that are effective for all learners, but especially English language learners which is 80% of our student population.
Our school structure is based on the belief that these students (and all students!) deserve a quality education and can achieve! We hold our students to high expectations. We just need support getting the materials we need to make learning engaging and effective for ALL students.
My Project
The illuminated orbiter I requested can be used to demonstrate the seasons, daylight, night, and phases of the moon. Not only will this orbiter be educational and help my students build conceptual understanding, in addition, it'll promote a fun and engaging science environment. I know this learning tool will bring out energy and excitement and promote conversation and questions among my students. Who knows? It might even create future scientists!
Having an illuminated orbiter available for my students will certainly create a group of excited and engaged learners.
Making learning fun is something that students will remember and help them become lifelong learners. Thank you for your support.
