My students need The Fault in Our Stars and Warm Bodies to supplement our study of Romeo and Juliet.
This project expired on January 8, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are excited to learn and even more excited to read great books. We just did a book tasting in the library and they were fighting over books to check out. With the right books, these students are willing to dive in and learn the literary elements and many facets of reading I challenge them with. Many are reluctant readers but, when met with the right book, will eagerly read and share their thoughts about books. They love books!
My students will be studying Romeo and Juliet. I’ve paired Shakespeare’s tragic story with an unconventional story in Warm Bodies and a tragic love story in the Fault in Our Stars. Students will choose a book for independent study alongside our classroom study of Romeo and Juliet.
In Warm Bodies, R is not like other zombies.
In this post apocalyptic tale, he saves Julie, daughter of the leader of an anti-zombie army, from being devoured by other zombies and falls in love with her.
In The Fault in Our Stars, inspired by Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, follows a young girls journey with terminal cancer and a friend she meets in a support group.
