My Students

Our students come from diverse backgrounds and a majority of my students have never been able to fully utilize technology in ways that allow them to strive for technology literate citizens. We are a Title I school that is striving to engage students in scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities so that they can practice inquiry that is guided by knowledge, observations, ideas and questions. Our students currently have Chromebooks during a portion of the day to participate in Google classroom, conduct research and engage in other educationally related technology experiences.

Our school serves students in grades five and six with approximately 900 students in all.

There are currently 34 students in my sixth grade classroom. I am striving to provide hands-on, inquiry-based STEM experiences for ALL of my students. This will ensure that my sixth grade classroom will be able to discover problems around them and solve real-world problems.

My Project

Technology is an important part of classroom instruction and students' learning. Since I have been a classroom teacher for a little more than a decade, I have created a wealth of unit plans, lessons, and worksheets that are not in a digital format. In order to bring these lessons alive I am looking for a scanner to digitize these valuable documents.

Student exemplars are integral component of student learning and to establish expectations.

A high-quality scanner will be utilized to present student exemplars via the SmartBoard and through Google Classroom. Once digital, documents can be drawn and written on via the SmartBoard to further elaborate upon with the whole class.
