My students come from very diverse backgrounds and life experiences and live in a very special part of Oklahoma. I serve four amazing campuses where staff works hard to create a learning environment where students from military, and all walks of life, are met at the door with a smile and are engaged in opportunities to grow. We are working hard to build a climate of HOPE in our students to take charge of their future.
My students are inquisitive, loving, joyous, exuberant, energetic, and are always ready for new adventures.
They are silly and bring laughter to our learning environment daily. Busy is another word to describe the day in the life of my kiddos. They keep me young and eager to try new things. They are fearless and always up for a challenge. This excitement is contagious and I love spending my day in their presence.
My Project
My school is working hard to become the first Purple Star School in Oklahoma, a program that supports military-connected children as they relocate to new schools due to a parent’s change in duty station.
We are in need of high quality, research based strategies and tools to help all our students transition to a new school successfully.
The quality literature through picture books and activities in each kit will help our students overcome so many obstacles.
This project would afford our students with opportunities to explore, identify, and make healthy decisions in their new school environment. These materials will be used with individual students as well as focus groups and classroom guidance lessons from pre-k through 4th grade.
