I work in a suburb of Detroit. I work in a school which 100% of my children in my classroom live in low income households. The neighborhood is ok for these children but it is hard for them to play outside. Most of them live in low income housing located close to the school. Most of the students are willing to learn and are eager to come to school. They are happy for the most part despite of the circumstances that they live in. They call "mom" a lot which, I don't mind. They love to have fun and dance and sing.
Every child is a different kind of flower, All together they make this world a beautiful garden.
I hope as their teacher, I am sowing, watering them and letting my light shine on these beautiful children in my class. I have 2 children of my own but I say that I have "17” adopted children. I put my soul, love, heart, and mind into these children.
My Project
My kids love hands-on materials and with these small toy items they can do so much with. They can count, sort, organize, chart and pretend play with them. The possibility with these small toys are endless. Also my children love using their fine motor skills. The cars are a STEM project that they can design them themselves and then have fun racing them with ramps. We can chart the results and experiment with different ramp heights. The hole punchers will strengthen children’s hands while teaching them the ABC’s . All these items will help the children to use their creative minds and pretend play.
