Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing. I have 6 students in first grade, 6 students in 2nd. I team with another Vietnamese Bilingual teacher (Mrs. Phu) and she has 5 PK and 4 Kinders. We also assisting 2 5th graders, 1 4th grader, and 1 3rd grader, who are new comers from Viet Nam.
Our classes are unique and specials.
We learn English and Vietnamese. We use both languages to help our students bi-literate in academic and social skills. Our students are great in adapting to the changes and helping each other in both languages.
Our resources for Vietnamese bilingual are very limited. Therefore most of our lessons are made from scratch and especially books for students. We do the best we can in class to learn be good in both languages.
My Project
In every school, we have so much resources to learn with the English language and that is how the students success, availability of books and materials. All district has the resources for Spanish bilingual program because it's very popular in our state. However, Vietnamese bilingual program is new and it can't grow if we don't have resources available. We don't have guided reading books nor teaching books.
Therefore, we can use the requested printer to printout the pictures and books that we create for our students to reuse over and over again.
We don't have Vietnamese book for us to teach and for our students to read so we will create them and just print them out. All the "reading" books out there is way too high for our students to learn, so we need to create everything from scratch. We need a printer to help us make our books better in quality and quantity. Thank you.
