Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love working at a Title I school. Low income, English Language Learners are the best students I could ask for. They are eager and ready to learn. Many of the students are being raised in single-parent homes, a few live in shelters or are homeless. Over 85% of the school receive free/reduced-price breakfast and lunch (when the brick and mortar school building is open). However, from the moment class begins, we focus on our growth and potential in each other.
Despite challenges the students may face, in our classroom, they work hard and strive to reach the expectations we have set in our classroom.
Reading, writing, and math are only part of the learning of our day. I round out the days of the school week teaming with our Reading Buddies and STEM Buddies to give them as much enrichment as possible. They like to move and be challenged throughout their day. They thrive with lots of positive attention. I do my best to offer experiences to keep my students engaged.
My Project
In the classroom, I will use the Acko Folding Step Stool - 13 inch Height Premium Heavy Duty Foldable Stepping Stool to reach the top shelves storing some of my curriculum. The clipboards will be will be sent home for students to use as needed for their school work. When they return to in class instruction, they will be used by students as they sit in small group discussion.
Many of my students live in very small spaces and have little means to work at a desk, so the Maddak Ableware Bed Tray will be used as a desk/ work space at home.
I plan on giving each student an AmazonBasics 3-Button USB Wired Computer Mouse to make the use of their Chromebook easier.
