Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the future of America! Many of them are first-generation Americans whose parents moved to this country to provide a better education and future for their children. Majority of my students’ parents/guardians put their complete trust and faith in my school and myself to assist and guide their child/ren to reach their greatest potential and achieve their goals and dreams as the parents work hard to provide and support their families at home.
I believe in my students’ ability to strive for greatness and make their mark in the world, despite the limited resources and supplies that we currently have in our school.
We are determined to learn and grow together, to improve the world and make a positive impact. We work with what we have and use each other and our own experiences to expand our knowledge and perspectives. I can only imagine how much further we can go if we had the resources that would meet our individual, unique needs.
My Project
The math manipulative's will help my students improve their operational and algebraic thinking. They will be able to participate and engage in hands-on activities as they learn strategies to be able to solve math problems. It will help me plan fun, engaging activities/lessons for my students to get them involved in the math so they are more likely to remember the material taught to them. For example, students can use the counters for multiplication or math BINGO, etc. They can use the fraction pieces for understanding adding/subtracting fractions, as well as equivalent fractions.
The furniture will help us access material and supplies easier and faster.
We will be able to stay organized rather than having material piled on the floor. The class will feel like home.
