“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” – Thomas A. Edison
I firmly believe in encouraging my students to try until they succeed.
I currently teach 23 amazing 2nd grade students. My school has over 700 Pre-K through 4th grade students. My school is located in a high poverty area, but my students come to school everyday with a smile on their face, ready to learn! About 75% of our school is on free or reduced lunch. Due to my students socioeconomic status, school is the place where they can cultivate their computer skills. Many of my students do not have access to the latest technology at home.
My Project
A picture says a thousand words! I love taking pictures of my students. At the end of the school year, I make a DVD for each one of my students. I want them to remember all the fun times we had in class together. I would like a digital camera to take these pictures of my students.
I am also asking for 3 Chromebooks.
During small group interventions, I will be working one on one with a group of students and the other students will be using laptops. My ultimate goal is for every student in my class to have a Chromebook. My students will use these Chromebooks for programs like: Achieve 3000, Reading Assist, Accelerated Reader, and Imagine Learning. These educational programs will help my students close the educational gap. The programs are research based and will help provide individualized learning to insure that my students are on or above grade level by the end of the year. These Chromebooks will allow my students access to technology that will help them master skills in second grade.
The donations from this project will be used towards technology to increase and improve the opportunities that my students have for interventions, making sure that they are prepared for their next educational step. The donations will also give my students a wonderful digital yearbook that is filled with their 2nd grade memories.
