My students need light covers so the lights in our classroom to be softened. The harsh fluorescent lights cause glares on the white boards. With the light covers, it will have a calming effect for the students.
All English as a Second Language students from the surrounding schools come to our school. This gives our school a wide variety of cultures and ethnicity. Along with the ELL students, we have over a 20% population of free and reduced lunch. With four apartment complexes feeding into our school, we have a transient student population.
Our school has a unique make-up for our district! The grades in our school start with special needs preschool through fifth grade.
The students in my classroom come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
The fluorescent light covers will soften the light in the classroom. With the soften of the harsh lights, the classroom will have a calming effect on the students which will give a more studious atmosphere. With the current fluorescent lights, there is a glare on the white board at the front of the room. Currently, we turn out the lights and rely on the sunlight that comes through the one window in our classroom. Students request to have the lights out to work because they have said it is calmer then having the overhead fluorescent lights one in the room.
