The Calm and Safe Space

Help me give my students a calming corner with a sensory floor lamp to help regulate their emotions in a healthy and positive way.

My Project

My students with autism work very hard throughout the day to meet their goals. They are dedicated to their work and activities that they do. At times, they may get overstimulated, upset or even feel stressed. My students are working on ways to help regulate their emotions. Having a space where they can go to when they feel overwhelmed can help them calm down. They can use the floor mat and the bean bag chair to lie down and/or sit on. My students enjoy sensory stimulated activities. They will enjoy playing with the sequin sensory fabric and hugging the vibrating pressure pillow. The fish aquarium lamp will help reduce the stress and anxiety. All of these items will be beneficial for my students to go to a safe space and calm down. These items will support their sensory needs as they work on regulating their emotions.
