Help me give my students the ability to open and run a successful coffee cart in order to build functional, vocational and economic skills. The items will provide the foundation for opening and starting a business.
Intermediate school is essential in building functional, social, and academic skills.
Economic and functional skills are essential in building life-long learners that will thrive in real-world environments and vocational experiences.
The balance of academic, social, functional and economic learning in a self-contained classroom focuses on building foundational skills in student growth and depth of knowledge. Building upon personal schema in order to create connections and experiences in order to gain interest and skills in a vocational or functional future.
My Project
The classroom is a fourth through eighth grade multiple disabilities classroom. The needs of these students range in academic, social, functional and vocational learning. We have been learning about economics in this classroom including, wants and needs, goods and services, and understanding products and consumers.
It is essential for students with multiple disabilities to have foundational instruction in real-world experiences and skill development.
The coffee cart business will promote social and functional skills that will aide in speech and language and occupational therapeutic skill practice. The business will build vocational training and a job coach will be on site to help with building a strong foundation for future job searching.
