The Book Thief for Ninth Graders
My students need 1 audiobook and 35 copies of "The Book Thief" next school year. This class set will provide copies for students that do not have the option of buying their own copy.
Reading a modern novel based on a major historical event will help capture the attention of my ninth grade students and promote a love of reading, something that diminishes as students get older.
My students are fun-loving and silly students that are trying to learn the ways of high school.
They are at the age where they want so badly to be "grown ups" but still desire the attention of young children. They are still discovering themselves as students, friends, role models, etc.
I have requested an audiobook and 35 copies of The Book Thief. My students will learn about the Holocaust from a unique perspective. This book can be paired with many types of fiction and non-fiction reading that students can relate to, but also learn from. This story will enrich and broaden the minds of my students.
Students have to purchase materials for many classes.
The cost of school materials can be a burden on families, especially those with multiple children or single-parent families. Donations to this project will ease not only the financial cost, but this will be one less item on a busy parent's list.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
