Help me give my students a MacBook for a better way to connect to my classroom! This device will increase my ability to communicate and reduce lagging in our remote learning environment.
My students are in two inner city schools. Most never get to leave our city, but that does not mean that they cannot experience the wonders of STEAM. This year we introduced coding in the classroom. While they enjoyed coding virtually, I want them to have a chance to make things move! It is one thing to make a character on the screen meander through a maze. It is another to create a program that will guide your robot through a maze of your imagination and creation.
Though they may live in public housing, they are eager to learn and better themselves. They simply need a little help with resources.
My school has Chromebooks and iPads. I want to use these tools to show them how fun and exciting technology can be. As a tech integrator, I can share this resource with all students grades K-5 in two different elementary schools.
My Project
I am currently supporting not only students but over 60 teachers in our remote learning environment. The devices I've been given has made this incredibly hard. The district gave us all the old laptops and this makes it hard for us to maintain instruction with a device that lags, freezes, and has wonky sound.
I want to provide the best instruction for our students and staff during this challenging time.
It's also challenging to help students with iOS devices without having one to help them troubleshoot and navigate on. This would provide faster connections, and no more dropped zoom calls. Our time together would allow more time for academic and social developmental instruction/support.
