I teach in an elementary school that includes Pre-K through 8th grade. We are a small school district with about 300 students. I teach social studies to 96 of those children in 6th through 8th grade. My students come from many different backgrounds with more than 75% receiving free and reduced lunch. Many of them come from single parent households and struggle financially.
Each and every one of my students come to class with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
They love all aspects of technology; however, because we are such a small school, our technology is limited.
A document camera will assist my students both inside the classroom as well as at home. Because many of my students are visual learners, I will be able to display maps, books, newspaper articles, student work, and complete graphic organizers. A document camera will come in handy when students are absent as well. This camera will allow me to scan classwork and send it via email to the student at home.
By donating to this project, my students will be provided with an interactive learning experience that will increase learning and enthusiasm.
The document camera will also cut down on copying expenses. I will be able to project notes, worksheets, and photos instead of making several copies for each student.
