Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My 2nd grade students at P.S. 115 in Washington Heights LOVE field trips (who doesn\'t?!). The New York Hall of Science in Queens is one of the best places to go in order to expose children to the hands-on world of science. The most incredible part of this trip is the Science Playground, which features playground elements that explore the scientific principles of motion, balance, sound, sight, simple machines and sun, wind, and water. In just one word, it is simply FANTASTIC. Students who are usually stuck in an empty yard for 10 minutes of recess a day are allowed the freedom to run and play on an interactive exhibit that teaches them about science as they have fun. My current students have experienced this awesome place, and I want to be able to take my students every year that I teach in this high-need school. A trip to the Hall of Science offers so many insights into the world of science, and would be a wonderful way to begin our school year. I am requesting a donation to pay the admission cost to the museum and the playground for my 30 students for the 2005-2006 school year. Give my kids a chance to have fun and PLAY, because when you are seven years old---that\'s what learning is all about!
