Creativity abounds in middle school. My students are always looking for different to express themselves. My classroom and our school library are unique places for students to show their diversity.
The students at my school are very diverse.
Being an IB school, we focus on a world community, not just our local one. Students come from all walks of life and all are willing to learn about and explore their origins and backgrounds. I am proud to be a member of this world community.
My Project
Attending this seminar will provide me with the much needed knowledge of the past decade's award-winning young adult literature. This will allow me to reach reluctant readers and provide suggestions for students searching for a great and interesting book.
Appealing to my diverse population of students is important.
Through this seminar I will discover award-winning books, as well as the best titles of lesser known awards and non-print titles - like audio books and movies for teens.
The seminar will also explore strategies for finding and evaluating books, as well as using them in the classroom.
