Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school motto is "Our future begins here". Shouldn't students have every advantage in order to succeed? My students need the opportunity to learn in the best environment possible.

I teach in a large, diverse K-8 school in a high poverty area in Philadelphia where all of the children are eligible for free lunch.

They have various abilities, and I want all of my students to be the best they can be. In order to make that happen, I would like to provide them with the tools necessary to succeed.

My Project

My school district has been 100% virtual since the beginning of the school year. We thought that we were going to switch to a hybrid model at the end of November. However, the increasing number of Covid cases has put these plans on hold.

I am so proud of my 1st graders and how hard they have been working.

I am trying to make this holiday season as normal as possible for them. I have already bought them books, notebooks, pencils, and crayons. I would like to replenish their dry erase markers and give each child some treats. The bags would be used to hold all of the materials.
