I am an exceptional children's teacher at a small charter school outside of Charlotte, NC. My students' ability levels vary from on grade level to two levels below. Each of my students is passionate about learning. They have a variety of different learning styles that make their learning needs unique. I see students in a small group setting of 2 to 5 students, as well as in the regular education classroom. My students challenge me and brighten my day on a daily basis.
Visual aids are extremely important in any classroom to expand the subject that is being presented and to keep lessons creative and interactive. I often teach students in small groups of 2-5, which allows me to keep my lessons hands-on and student-involved. My students would benefit if I were able to easily project portions of books or other items using a document camera. Often my students and I will work together to create a diagram or chart on poster size paper and then post these throughout the classroom. I can later reference these items to reteach or remind students of an important concept.
