My students are like most other students with the exception of their circumstances. My students live in a high poverty town. Many of my students are being raised by their grandparents or foster parents. We are in a Title I school with 100% free lunch and breakfast. Many of these students eat only at school because there is little or no food at home.
The world is a difficult place for many of these students and school is the one safe place for them to be kids.
They have experienced so much in their young lives. I want to provide them with my best so they can be their best and hopefully, pay it forward. Having the equipment we need will go a long way to help them.
These items will outfit our band with many of the items we don't have. The cabasa and tambourine will replace the broken ones we have. The agogo bells will be a new addition just in time for us to use it for our spring program.
We are a small rural school, and we don't have many of the instruments and accessories that most larger schools have.
It would be great to be able to play pieces that call for the items we have requested. I hope to present the most exciting music to these kids. Thank you for helping us!
