My students need 14 hand drums to better express themselves in the music classroom.
I am a music teacher that loves her job and her students. As a truly diverse pre-k trough 5 school we have a lot of English Language Learners, Special Education students as well as a gifted class.
There is one thing that all of my students love: drums. My upper grade students are enthusiastic about having drumming numbers in our winter and spring concerts.
Lower grade students would not only benefit from the experience of real (authentic sounding) drums, but also from the movement possibilities that drums bring along.
Having new drums will allow all students to explore new ways of self-expression. There are endless social studies connections that could be facilitated through the sounds of the drums. Having drums, would allow each child to bloom regardless of his or her abilities.
With your help students will have access to quality musical instruments that would help raise not only the quality of music education, but also self-esteem and level of peer interactions.
