My students need bear counters, bug counters, expo markers, and laminating sheets and other supplies to enhance the hands-on learning of my students through games.
Currently, I am teaching a self-contained kindergarten classroom. I have all students with special needs and varying levels of ability. I also closely work with the first and second-grade self-contained classrooms. Our students come from a low-income community and I typically struggle to provide support for our students.
Each of these students has their own unique needs and ways of learning but they have one thing in common: the need to be successful.
With this being said, my students need opportunities to accommodate their needs in the special education and regular education classrooms as well as at home. These materials will give them the chance to be successful by breaking down other barriers such as the need for visuals, hands-on support, and multi-sensory activities to practice the skills we are teaching.
My students are unique individuals with different life stories to share and different educational and social/emotional needs that I strive to address. They live in a poorer community which puts a lot of pressure on the schools and teachers to address the concerns. It is important that the students have the supplies they need to be successful.
My Project
My students greatly benefit from hands-on materials to increase their academic knowledge in both reading and mathematics. Having materials such as laminating sheets, allows us to protect games and centers for them to use as practice for new skills. Bear counters and bug counters allow us to practice skills such as counting, sorting, and categorizing. Expo markers are used daily in my classroom to support all kinds of academic content.
These materials break down the barriers my students face and allow them to be engaged in what they are learning as well as build a love for school.
Having supplies is a necessity to a successful classroom. These are materials we use frequently in my classroom and are often things that are purchased with my own money so that students can be successful. Let's finish off this year with the materials we need and start next year with a fabulous beginning!
