The Bear Necessities, The Simple Bear Necessities of a Class
My students need notebooks, writing paper, construction paper and a table organizer to learn to love writing and creating colorful stories while being organized.
It isn't the simple "bear" necessities of life my students need, my students need the simple "bear" necessities of a classroom.
My students are a group of first graders from low income families.
Many of my students are just learning English and have parents that do not speak English. Our school is 90% free or reduced lunch and about half of my classroom is ESOL. My students are very energetic and colorful and love to learn.
My Project
With these materials my students will be able to write and bring their stories to life. With the notebooks my students will be able to write daily and continue stories as they wish. The writing paper will allow them to write published copies to share and read out loud with their classmates. The construction paper will allow their stories to come to life. Students are able to become the author and the illustrator. The construction paper will also allow them learn in colorful and bright ways. These materials will allow my to makes comprehension, and sentence building games that will spark my students interest. The table organizer will helps students monitor and keep tract of their writing. Organization is a skill that will carry over to all areas of learning.
This project will show my students that writing is important.
By having others donate to their writing they will see that importance and want to use their materials. When students see the colorful construction paper they will want to write.
