My Students

I am a speech language pathologist at an urban high school in Connecticut. My students not only have individual educational needs and disabilities, but also come from a variety different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of the students are from low-income families and 50% of the school has free and reduced-price lunch.

My room not only serves as a place for students to participate therapy, but to also come to destress.

I could not be more proud of my students and strive to continue to provide them with the best services and learning environment possible.

My Project

All students deserve to learn in a setting that allows them access the curriculum free of distractions and clutter. The importance of these factors is intensified with the population of students that receive speech and language services. Many of them have difficulty focusing, sustaining attention, and need redirection. Currently, I am providing services to my students in a small old storage closet and have a broken desk for them to work on. By providing a rectangular desk and bookcase for my students, I can produce the optimal work environment.

An organized space allows for a functional room with easily accessible materials for my students, and a sturdy table top to work upon eliminates one less distraction.

For these reasons, I am asking for the Zinus Office Desk and the Sauder Barrister Lane Bookcase to improve the learning experience for my students. These basics can assist in creating a space that my students can feel comfortable and ready to learn in.
