My Students

COVID-19 will drastically change the way my students receive an education this coming school year. However, my third-grade​ students are full of love and light, and they are ready to learn each day. That gives me encouragement and pushes me to want to be a better teacher and have a better classroom for them.

My students face a lot of challenges but they are RESILIENT.

Our school is a Title I school in Washington, in a rural area where a high percentage of our students eat free or reduced-price lunches and live in poverty. A lot of our students have experienced trauma and lack resources to help them cope with their life experiences. Many students also speak a home language other than English, which can present additional learning struggles. My students are determined to overcome these challenges and stay successful lifelong learners, but they need the tools and resources to do so.

My Project

My students have been BEGGING me to buy The Bad Guys series. They are so invested in these books right now. I think that part of the hype is that the movie just came out... But who am I to question a request for books?! In this project, I have included all fourteen of The Bad Guys books that are currently out right now. Additionally, I have included a set of lower-level graphic novels. Many of my students want to read graphic novels but all of those books are outside of their reading range. I will be so excited to bring these new books to our classroom library!
