My students need the supplies listed to be prepared for class daily and to be successful in their academics. Pencils and a good pencil sharpener are necessary to make it through the school year!
I am a Special Education teacher at River Oaks Elementary. I work at a Title I school in Gulfport, Mississippi. Most of my students receive free or reduced lunch, and come from diverse backgrounds. Many of my students have Specific Learning Disabilities, ADD/ADHD, or Emotional Behavioural Disorders. Although my students struggle in the general education setting, they are truly the most motivated learners.
I truly believe I teach the most incredible children!
My students love coming to school and love to learn! Many of my students receive the most love and support inside the classroom! I tell them everyday they are capable, smart, talented, and future leaders.
My Project
Many of the students at my school stop by my room daily to get a refill of supplies such as: paper, pencils, glue, and highlighters which to me is a blessing. These are tools we use everyday in the classroom! I work in an area where many students come to school with nothing. These supplies will help to restock my cabinet and help my students be successful. I strive hard to keep all my students with all the necessities they need ranging from Kleenex and pencils to rulers and binders.
I believe one of the easiest ways to build relationships with students is to simply, give them a pencil and start a conversation!
For me, as an educator, I always want all students to feel comfortable enough to come to me and ask for whatever they need. Having supplies on-hand, has helped me to be successful in building meaningful relationships with the students at River Oaks Elementary. Over the years I have been successful!
