"Every child is an artist." -Pablo Picasso
I truly believe this quote. But many of my 600 students have trouble finding the artist inside them. My goal is to provide students with the tools and skills they need so that they can all become artists.
I teach kindergarten through fifth grade.
My students have a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. Some students have disabilities that make it difficult to create art in traditional ways. Other students are truly gifted artists but are sometimes afraid to take risk that might expand their skills.
My Project
My students need 2 iPad minis with cases. My students will use the iPads in three ways: creation, documentation and research. They will create art using different apps to draw and create videos. They will document their artwork by photographing it and posting it in their online gallery. I plan to use augmented reality in my art room to set up stations that feature triggers that students can scan to take them to how-to videos which help them learn or review different art techniques. This will allow me to give students more choice in the art they work on and help me differentiate learning.
Using iPads in the art room will help me offer more teaching resources to my students.
By using augmented reality, students can get the help they need with a technique, even if I am busy working with another student. They will also improve their communication skills by writing artist statements about their artwork in their online galleries.
