My Students
To become a success in life, we all need the right tools to help us succeed in every aspect. Becoming a good student takes much work and self-discipline. 100% of my students are behind in reading, and fine motor skills because of the pandemic. These students were at home for a year in virtual learning. Today these students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
My class consists of 22 amazing students.
The students in my classroom are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. As English language learners, books are so important to them. They love to draw and color. They are very creative. Our library and the art center is essential resource for my students. In these centers, they are able to look at books and use the art center to express their feelings and what they have learned from the book they tried to read. Many of my students do not have access to books at home and rely on our classroom library to check out high-quality books and art supplies to complete their work.
My Project
The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, for all subjects. Using the workshop model in math, for writing new words, writing sentences, and for drawing. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use. The art supplies help to develop small motor skills. After reading the books students like to draw about their favorite part of the story.
