Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher from a high poverty Title I school, I see firsthand some of the challenges my students face. My students come to me with a variety of needs each day ranging from just needing a hug to a pencil. My goal is to provide an environment where they feel safe and comfortable.
I truly believe in our motto of "preparing all children as global learners." Our class knows that it is okay to make mistakes, but it is important to figure out how to fix them.
They know that they may retake tests if they don't pass the first time. They made individual reading goals at the beginning of the year to help them focus on achieving their potential. They are future engineers, teachers, technicians, and scientists to name a few. I am honored to be a positive influence on their path to success.
My Project
Please consider donating towards my third graders during this new virtual learning world we live in. We are requesting a grade level set of watercolors to have students create beautiful projects including learning about the color wheel. We would also like more Expo markers and erasers for students' mini-whiteboards, and some replacement boards.
I want to make sure all my students have the same materials to make their learning experience equitable.
I have seen a lot more success from my students when they use the mini-whiteboards to solve problems and show me responses. This way I can give them immediate feedback versus checking their work later after they have logged off. We are also in need of new journals since we have been using them for writing and taking notes-they are filling up! I hope you will consider contributing to my wonderful creative third graders.
