Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to third grade! My students are bright English language learners with diverse strengths and challenges. They are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and hardworking. Many lack reading fluency and comprehension. These students also face many obstacles outside of the classroom.
I believe that each child is able to learn, grow, and succeed.
Yoga, creative movement, multi-sensory techniques, and strategies are incorporated into lessons to ensure the success of all learners. Students work hard to gain new skills, strategies, and a positive attitude about reading!
My Project
My students need clay, paint and paint palettes to study and create art to express themselves. This art will be inspired by the natural world. Students will use hand building techniques to create a variety of projects.
This enrichment opportunity to work with clay is essential as my students do not have art class in their regular schedule.
My students will use the white and colored clay to create masterpieces. The clay will allow students to create several projects that will be baked! Students will use the tools and cutters to add texture and design. They will also use the paint and paint brushes to create vivid and dynamic pieces!
Students will receive direct and explicit instruction targeting individual learning needs and goals that are aligned to the Common Core visual arts standards.
