I currently teach ELA to 7th graders from many different backgrounds which make up an extremely diverse population of learners.
As an ELA teacher, it is important to me to be able to expose my students to a wide variety of texts in the classroom.
One thing all my students have in common is their love for learning and reading new things.
My children come to me when they need an outlet for their frustration. Often they have trouble expressing themselves, which only adds to their aggravation and many struggle to find an appropriate way to deal with their feelings. Teachers in my school are no longer able to personally give each student the resources they desire.
My Project
As part of the Next Generation Standards, students are required to understand the many ideas and concepts from all areas of the humanities. I love doing hands-on activities, but my students are 11 and 12 year old children and have a tendency to lose things. Having basic supplies within the classroom will allow me to continue to create engaging science activities. Paper, pens and highlighters, colorful post-its are necessary every day in lessons and activities; if the students don't have them they can not be successful. A variety of supplies bring joy, motivation, and engagement to content assignments. Having everyday classroom supplies available will help make each lesson run more smoothly and more learning will be accomplished.
A student-centered curriculum is a tool that I find effective for science success.
I can't do this without your help. Please support and provide basic classroom supplies for my young students. Thank you in advance for seeking out Donors Choose and supporting education.
