My Students

My school is comprised of Special Education students, from an inner-city school, in New York. The purpose of our school is to teach our students the skills that are required in order to obtain and maintain a job. Our staff works around student's disabilities to train them for employment.

In addition to vocational training, our school offers clubs and athletic teams for our students to take part in.

All of our clubs and teams focus on student abilities, not disabilities.

My Project

When kids grow up in Brooklyn, they are often limited to basketball and handball.

Our adventure team seeks to expose students to both new and outdoor sports, that are not typically found in Brooklyn schools.

Every summer we take a trip to Woodloch Pines to compete against other schools in events such as volleyball, paintball, archery tag, ultimate frisbee, croquet, badminton, and golf.

Each summer we travel to Pennsylvania to compete against other students in a variety of games. It is a great opportunity for our students to develop sportsmanship and meet other disabled students from across the country.
