I have fallen in love with my students' perseverance and bright spirits! Despite the daily challenges my students face, they come to school with smiles on their faces ready to tackle whatever is thrown at them. My students work very hard and they are super excited to learn.
I teach at a Title I funded school where one hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many students in my school receive food kits for the weekends and are placed in the Angel Tree program each year at Christmas. Despite living in a perpetual cycle of poverty, their spirits remain unbreakable.
It's no secret that children from difficult backgrounds are underdogs from the very beginning. That is why they need a champion, someone who believes in them enough to give them a chance at success. This project will open the door to uncharted territory for my students and allow them to reach a level of success they never knew existed.
My Project
Kids who read more, know more! Oftentimes, however, kids hate reading and it's a challenge to get them engaged in a book.
Inspiring a love of reading is our job as adults.
That's why I am dedicated to helping my students complete the 200 book challenge this year! With this project, we will complete at least one read-aloud each day and chart all the books we read throughout the year. Although we have started the challenge with the books I already have, we are running out! This project is full of books on encouragement, bullying, STEM, manners, self-efficacy, and more! Some are serious and some are funny, but all are sure to make students enjoy our read-aloud time and encourage them to pick up a book!
