My students represent a wide array of backgrounds. With unique personalities, it is a very nice mixture, and we all learn from one another. As the neighborhood continues to change, we are introduced to many varying cultures. I want to do my best to create a classroom environment that addresses all of our differences in order to bring an understanding and respect for all. My students are very eager to learn, and love to be challenged. It is my job to facilitate their young curious minds.
My Project
Science is life. As adolescents, we may have yawned at the thought of science class, but young children thrive on mystery, exploration and discovery, all of which are concepts of science.
I want to create the best science centers possible, which is my reason for requesting your assistance.
Unfortunately, our schools do not have the resources or funding to supply materials that will grasp and maintain our students' interests. And with the technological-based society in which we live, children are often deprived or not interested in physically exploring their world and thinking deeper into what, why, and how things work. Therefore, my request for the following materials will allow them to explore and question concepts by trying things out such as the pop tunes, observation of minerals (minerals and rock kit game with related books), magnets, insects(poly bag plastic insects), and light (colored light paddles and glass triangular prisms). I cannot stress the importance of creating a science-rich environment for my students. These materials would work wonders in science centers which would allow for exploration and discovery, let alone create much interest and excitement, both of which enhance the learning experience. The support of my donors is priceless and greatly appreciated. Thank you for considering my proposal.
