My students are at risk of failing to meet the state's academic achievement standards. We are grant-funded based on the number of economically disadvantaged students.
My students come to me without some of their basic needs met as all of my children are 200% below the federal poverty line.
It is my job to fill in the developmental gaps and ensure kindergarten readiness. I serve at a Title I school.
I serve 20 children, all of whom receive free lunch. I have students with individual education plans and several kids with speech concerns.
My Project
This is their first year in school and some children come in crying and upset. I get out the playdough and they immediately start to calm down and start to talk and be creative. If they had some playdough tools, they could create even more. It reminds me of Toy Story 4 when Bonnie made Forky.
Bonnie was happy when she created Forky.
So, much like Bonnie was set at ease making Forky, I want my children to come in and use the playdough tools to help them adjust to school. There are playdough mats for the emotions we can use to develop social-emotional skills and fine motor skills simultaneously. This grant request includes a storage shelf to store all the materials in and see-thru bins for easy access to the materials.
