Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so thankful for being the teacher of such great bilingual learners who are always so excited to be in school ready to learn. It is amazing to see how much they have grown from the beginning of the school year. Our awesome elementary school is located on the southwest side of Chicago. These spirited English language learning students come from low-income households.
My students are so proud of their reading accomplishments now that they are in school, thus having the right materials to master fluency and comprehension skills are a must have.
My Project
These books will help my students gain confidence in reading that will impact their ability to read fluently and will increase comprehension skills as well. My students will be able to take these books home to read to their family members and continue their language journey and love for reading. That will later transfer to writing.
For my pre-readers, these books will make a huge impact to bust their ability to recognize and read their sight words.
For, my higher-level readers will continue to build on their reading and comprehension skills on fiction and non-fiction books.
